Universe Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming group exhibition "Poetics of Space", featuring the works of four artists: CAI Lei, Shatrudhan K. Gupta, Ni Xuemin and Wen Yipei. The exhibition opens on June 17, 2023 and runs until August 5, 2023.
The title of the exhibition, "The Poetics of Space," derives from the German philosopher Martin Heidegger's redefinition of existence and space by exploring the existence of the surrounding, everyday, near-tangent world, and by dwelling, lingering, and deconstructing the philosophy of "be-in" in familiar territory. The exhibiting artists go beyond the extended perspective of the fixed scope, using light and color to reshape the structure, atmosphere and space, and explore the spiritual extension behind the things that already exist. The Spaces described by the creators are embedded in the "surrounding world" that we are familiar with, and the overall connections drawn between them are the basis for the existence of surrounding objects. On these foundations, the mode of existence to which we are attached is the original meaning of Being in the world.
In Heidegger's definition, poetry is extended to existence and reaction, "Existence is the existence of the being, and the existence of the being is the source from which the change of being can affect or interact with other beings, and it is also the source from which other conscious potential beings can perceive, recognize and decide to use." This exhibition presents a logical understanding of space, being and connection, explores existential terms in the form of being, and before that, the essential construction of our perception of the world. The artist leads the viewer into their three-dimensional world of lines and colors, and continues Heidegger's "Why poetic dwelling" behind the links and symbols to explore the "poetics of space".
